Chayarupa

Meaning of "Chayarupa"

E-mail

"Chayarupa" is the Sinhala word for photograph (Sinhala is a language spoken in Sri Lanka).  "Chaya" means shadow and  "rupa" depicts a painting or a drawing.  A crude translation therefore would be a shadow painting, which would bring out the true nature photography as an art.  To me fine art photography is about painting with your camera and capture an image that would give me (and hopefully others) the ability to enjoy the message beneath.  Painting with shadows? My kind of art...

Peacock at Jebel Ali Golf Resort Peacock at Jebel Ali Golf Resort

A had to visit the Jebel Ali Golf resort late May.  The last thing you expect in the middle of the desert are peacocks!  The drive to the resort from its main gate is busy with them as well as around the main entrance.

Sri Lanka - May 2010

Weligama Weligama

Sri Lanka in May - Thunderstorms, trip to Anuradhapura (ancient city in Sri Lanka) and a relaxing break at the Barberyn Weligama helped me to recharge my batteries.

Barberyn Weligama is highly recommended.  It is an Aryuvedic resort with plenty of options to de-tox, relax, meditate and recuperate your body, mind and soul.  More details are available at their website http://www.barberynresorts.com/english/beach/

I have been pretty busy lately with creating a new website for a friend. A banker and a dancer and I am not sure in which order he see's himself. It was fun to work with a great artist and he came up with most of the creative ideas, and the name takes the cake - Dancing Banker!

Enjoy it here.
